Dale Proctor

Owner

Dale Proctor grew up on his father's job sites. His father built custom homes, and Dale worked for him as a teenager — which is where the trade came from, and, forty years later, where he ended up again.

In the summer of 1979, after his first year of college, he took a carpenter's job at Six Flags Over Texas in Arlington. He stayed twenty years and left as Director of Facilities, accountable for all construction in the park — new ride installation, animations, the fiberglass and upholstery shop, the sign shop, and the buildings themselves.

That work leaves you with habits. You learn what a drawing does not tell you. You learn that the schedule is a chain of trades and the weather, not a wall chart. And you learn that the tolerance for finding out later is zero, because the thing you built is going to be full of people.

He left in 1999 for Show Quest Entertainment as Director of Construction, and spent the next six years building roller coasters, rides and attractions in the United States, the Netherlands and Norway.

In 2005 he stopped traveling. He spent the fifteen years that followed as Director of Construction for a large Fort Worth custom home builder, and in the summer of 2020 he started this company to build on his own terms.

The through-line is not the type of building. It is that Dale has spent his working life being the person accountable for whether a complicated structure actually gets built — and on your house, he still is. He walks the land before there is an agreement. He sets and attends the design meetings. He is at the pre-construction meeting, at the weekly update, and at the punch walk at the end.

CB Homes runs seven to ten projects at a time. Not seventy.

That number is the whole business model. It is how Dale can be at your pre-construction meeting, at the weekly update, and at the punch walk at the end, not a project manager three layers down who has never met you.

It also means we cannot take everything. When Dale looks at a project, he is deciding whether he can build it properly alongside the work already committed. That is the only filter we apply, and it has nothing to do with the size of the job.
